Handmade men's ring with Italian flag colors in platinum setting, perfect for weddings or statements.
The emerald cut is one of the kindest shapes for a slim finger. Its long, straight lines elongate the hand, and because the cut is all about clean steps rather than busy sparkle, it looks elegant rather than oversized. The ruby and emerald color blocking keeps the eye moving along the length of the ring, which adds to that lengthening effect.
Emerald cuts have a large, open table, so they show their full outline clearly and look broad for their weight. The trade off is honesty: that open table also shows the stone's clarity, so we hand pick clean material. Set in platinum, the ruby reads as a deep saturated red and the emerald as a rich green, with the white metal keeping both colors true rather than tinting them.
This is the section to read closely. Ruby is a 9 on the Mohs scale and very tough, an excellent everyday stone. Emerald is softer, around 7.5 to 8, and almost always has natural inclusions, so it is more delicate and dislikes hard knocks, heat and ultrasonic cleaners. We set the emerald protectively and recommend treating this as a ring you wear with a little care rather than through heavy manual work. Warm soapy water and a soft brush is the safest way to clean it at home.
A clean platinum band lets the colored stones stay the focus. A baguette and round diamond band echoes the architectural, step cut feel of the emerald shapes, while a plain platinum band is the most understated partner. Both are built to sit flush against this ring.
The emerald cut is the shape of choice for people who want understated glamour. Emma Roberts and the timeless Grace Kelly both wore emerald cut engagement rings, proof that the silhouette never dates. Combining it with bold colored stones, as we do here, is a more daring, collector minded direction.
We source natural rubies and emeralds by default and disclose any standard treatments, which are common and accepted for both stones. Lab grown rubies and emeralds are also available if you would prefer a larger stone for the budget.
It can be, with realistic expectations. Emerald is softer and more included than ruby or diamond, so it suits someone who is happy to be a little careful. If you want maximum toughness in the same color family, we can discuss a green sapphire or tsavorite alternative.
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners, which can harm the emerald, and avoid wearing it while using cleaning chemicals. Bring it to us once a year for a proper check and gentle clean.
Platinum is a neutral white that keeps the red and green reading true, and it is dense and secure for holding colored stones. We can build it in 18k gold instead if you want a warmer frame.
