It is well suited to it. An elongated cushion is longer than it is wide, so it stretches the finger the way an oval does while keeping the soft, rounded corners that read as gentle and feminine. The marquise side stones continue that lengthwise line. On a petite hand the design looks generous without spilling over the sides, and the dainty band keeps the overall weight light.
How big does the diamond actually look?
Elongated cushions punch above their weight. The long outline spreads the carat across the finger, so this center looks larger than a square cushion or a round of the same weight, and the marquise accents on each side extend the sparkle line even further. The trade off worth knowing: a cushion holds a little more depth than an oval, so two stones of the same face up size can differ slightly in carat. We pick stones that maximize spread.

What is the difference between an elongated and a regular cushion?
A regular cushion is close to square. An elongated cushion is cut longer in one direction, giving a rectangular footprint. The elongated version flatters the finger more and tends to look larger for its weight, which is why we chose it here.
Why marquise side stones rather than rounds?
Marquise accents point along the finger, so they reinforce the elongating effect of the center and add a vintage, tapered line. Rounds would look softer but shorter. It is a style choice and we can swap them if you prefer.
Is yellow gold a good setting for a colorless diamond?
It can be. Warm gold can make a near colorless diamond look very slightly warmer, which many people love for a vintage feel. If you want the diamond to read as icy white, we would suggest a white metal basket under the stone, which we can do while keeping the gold band.
Can I have a larger center?

Will the band bend or wear thin?
A dainty band is thinner by design, so over many years of daily wear it can show wear like any fine band. We build it in solid 18k gold and can add a touch more thickness on the underside for durability if you ask.
