Is a black diamond a true diamond?

Black diamonds are indeed part of the true diamond variety because they are formed naturally – graphite inclusions are what give them their color, otherwise they have the same chemical composition as white diamonds. Treated diamonds subjected to heat in order to get their black color are also natural diamonds.
