A moissanite visually differs because it produces a rainbow spectrum of sparkle, whereas a white sapphire will produce more of a silvery-gray glow. White sapphire is also less expensive than a moissanite: a 1 carat white sapphire would be about $800 to $1200, and a 1 carat moissanite would be about $1400. Both options are used as alternatives to diamonds, however, they both have their own distinct characteristics which make them less or more appealing to any individual wearer.
